I have seen a scary amount of Brian de Palma movies...

Well, I have. And all the way through too. And am italicizing ones that I've seen a good chunk of.
And all I can say is that he can be a twisted fuck. The violence and the sexuality and the icky imagery.
Just watched the Black Dahlia which sums up his tendencies. I hated Carlito's Way a lot. And having looked at the extras, he looks way normal. And I think the only one I saw in the theaters was Mission Impossible; the rest were rentals. I have seen a lot of movies of a guy that I don't particularly like. Go figure. But some are classics and worth seeing once.
