Am clearly bored and way too amused with myself. Bought at the store recently Ben and Jerry's Vermonty Python for obvious reasons. New flavor I haven't tried and a Monty connection. Let's try. It's pretty tasty. It's a bit like a girl drink, with coffee liquer ice cream, a cookie swirl and chocolate chunk cows in there. Not something you'd want everyday, but a nice change of pace.
Then, have also tried the Diet Hansen's Black Cherry soda which I'm sad to say is mondo gross. It tastes like bad cherry cough syrup and reminds me of the awful Chocolate Raspberry ball that I once split with one of my office mates that tasted like chocolate cough syrup.
Also got from Zingerman's catalogue, chocolate chunk sourdough bread and coffeecake. I was ordering a bread gift for my father and had to buy something for my domicile. The choc.chunk sourdough seems to have survived the AZ heat. I wanted chocolate filled figs, but couldn't rationalize quite yet. If they turn out to be wow, will shout it from the rooftops.
And oh sadness, Starbucks doesn't have cupcakes anymore. Not that I should be surprised, but not fair. Had a chocolate one at Wildflower Bread Co recently which was tres overpowering. Maybe I should've tried for the more low-key vanilla. Don't know any good places to get cupcakes here. I miss the black and white cupcakes from PA. They were chocolate cake with cream cheese swirled with chocolate chips. You could usually predict to get them at potlucks or during school when people brought in snacks for people's birthdays. They were the right level of sweetness.
I've gotten into checking out this cupcake blog and amused/impressed/mystified by the precious cupcakes that people make. People whose bake goods turn out much, much prettier than mine do. The wedding shower cupcakes look pretty but blueberry mousse sounds gross. Am picky about my blueberries and what I want blueberries to be in. I prefer them to be fresh if possible or frozen if necessary, but never blueberry topping. I blame growing up near the Poconos where you could get them growing wild near the beach and in the store from Jersey for this. So, now I'm a blueberry snob in addition to a coffee snob, a chocolate snob and an apple snob. What a burden. Though the phrase apple snob doesn't seem right somehow, but how else do you describe a person who despises Red Delicious apples? And I've had to explain to at least two of my friends that Empire, Fujis, Galas are so much better. And these are people who grew up in the Northeast. Maybe it's a sweet/tart dichotomy. One wonders. Like the people who like the sweet drinks like the Red Delicious apples and the ones who like the tart ones like the others? I don't think I'm quite yet a wine snob, or so watching Sideways made me think. Beer snob, at times. Finally found the wine I'd been looking for that I had in San Francisco, at Safeway, oddly enough. It was on sale, but I didn't have my card, so I didn't get the discount. And now I can't find the receipt.
Okay, as I've wandered all over creation in this post, let's stop and drink tea.
