Tangerine Dream's greatest hits

Is this Tangerine Dream? or am I dreaming? So my attempts to grade all these things that I have to have done has lead me to leave the warm embrace of my apt (and the proximity to the tv) and seek an "elsewhere to be" at the coffee shop.

The music that they've been playing has been of the new age variety with minor melodies and strange synth music. It sounds like they're soundtracks but either new ones or ones I don't know. I don't mind it; it just seems odd. Which leads me to the question about tangerine dream. I only tangentially know who they are as one of my roommates had a tape of theirs. They're a new age synth band who did a lot of mood music, including the soundtrack. Kind of in the same vein as Vangelis who did the Bladerunner soundtrack. I think they've just taken an i-pod and put it on random.

It seems a bit ponderous admittedly, or over the top with too many high voices. But it beats the hell out of the live musician earlier. He was acoustic and had a good guitar playing and all; however, he was just slightly off on the tunes. He was sort of obliquely in tune.

Arggh. Need to figure out what to do regarding music for xmas. Cd player's dead and bringing my computer with all my music in it seems a tad unwieldly. Signs when you realize quite how accustomed you are to music and how reliant you are on it.

I was housesitting and it was driving me nuts because there was a stereo in the living room and not in the study. I was also wanting chocolate in a serious way, or something sweet and all the person had was fixings for dinner, which was far too virtuous for my desires.
