Holiday thoughts...
My holiday was fairly low-key. I went to the wedding of one of my students, Anne, as was previously mentioned in a previous entry. Was a surprisingly good event. It was held outside in a pretty garden area. Nice weather. Probably Arizona is the best place to have such an event. It was a short ceremony. The reception was fairly good, too; my friend Ray (who I dragged along to talk to) and I had good conversations with different people. Also ran into one of my other students, Cori, from one of my honors English classes. Cori was impressed that I remembered who she was. I was taking a stab that it was she and was hoping like hell that I got the right person. There is also a greater likelihood that I would remember an honors student as they tended to be memorable, both in good and in not so good ways.

My gift ended up being the goblet variations of the plum blossom high ball glasses that I have. I figured I'd go the neutral route, as I didn't know whether they drank or not. Turns out they don't as a matter of fact as it was a 'dry wedding" which was probably good as I hadn't slept much. I also got candle holders that I liked. What their style is I'm not certain, but figured a funky style was probably a better way to go than traditional, though honestly who knows these days. Besides, I've been at the stage where you don't have any matching anything. Or the dishes that you do get are yellow. (They were things I got in someone's move.) I would've gone with photos, but I don't know if the "younger" generation is into photos in the way that I am and some of my friends are.

For actual turkey day, I went to Monti's Casa Vieja for their turkey dinner. I was going to go to my usual place, the Quilted Bear, for their buffet, but didn't make reservations in time and they were mobbed. It was my first time at Monti's and their turkey dinner was pretty good. Their roman, read foccaccio but not so named, bread was yummy. As was their peach cobbler. Though they didn't have stuffing. (:. Like what's the point of having all the lovely carbs if you don't have stuffing?
