The latest example of typecasting. Was going through video tapes and saw an old Galactica 1980 that was the last ep. of Starbuck, which was probably the best entire ep. of the series. But, cattiness aside, the plot was that Starbuck crash-landed on a planet and was separated from the fleet. And while there, for reasons that are too complicated to get into, he helps a Angel-type woman give birth to a baby. He will save said baby and send it back to the Galactica. Presumably, this is his way to do penance for all the carousing and stuff. (Whatever). In case anyone's wondering, Sci-Fi was rerunning Galactica 1980 and I felt like doing a reality check. Does this hold up as well as I remember when I was ten? The answer, regrettably and usually, is no. There is no plot for Rocky and Bullwinkle, Kitt isn't all that cool, and both Sherriff Lobo and B. J. and the Bear were utterly insane.
I remember seeing this years, years ago when it came out. Then, upon rewatching it, I was horrified to discover that the woman playing Angela, complete with white diaphanous tattered clothes, is none other than Judith Chapman, an actress from General Hospital. In the 1980's she played Ginny Blake who was the standard re-formed bitch character. She's not the greatest actress either. So, any weight to her "prophetic" speech has been blown.
And while we're on this thread, Starbuck's life for the annoying genius-kid Dr. Zee seems like a terrible bargain. Man, I hated that child. I'm sure I even hated him more than I hated Wesley at the beginning of Star Trek: The Next Generation. I was seventeen at the time so Wesley was whiney and annoying. Besides, he improved as a character to a degree. My apologies to anyone who found Wesley endearing as I know that they are out there. Older was more appealing at the time. Besides, I was in my swoony Romantic stage, watching Anne of Avonlea and Upstairs, Downstairs, etc on PBS. And waiting to get out of Dodge.
Well, my I-tunes has pulled up "Under Pressure" by Queen which I thought was "Ice Ice Baby" by Vanilla Ice. I still refuse to believe Vanilla's "story" that he didn't sample it and that his was different. Yeah, right. Then he redid Lou Reed's "Take a Walk on the Wild Side." Feh!

Okay, have listened to both again. And yes, they are different enough. But he did steal the opening riff.
Did Ginny Blake shoot DL Brock on GH? Circa 1984ish?
That show SUCKS now. And I only watch the new Battlestar for potential nudity.
Yes, Ginny did shoot DL Brock because he was blackmailing her about something. They thought it was everyone but her. It's kinda poetic in a way for someone to kill the actor who destroyed the Rhoda show.
And they re-cast Felicia. What's the point to watch?
The only reason I've watched BG is because Baltar's quite hot. (Which already makes me feel conflicted.) But it's not worth the craptitude of the rest.
