Larry, Deckard, Rachael, and Pris, or when an actor's past roles overshadow his/her present ones

For the class I'm ta-ing for we're doing Bladerunner this week and it's so 80s in a lot of ways. Sean Young's big shoulder pads, (it's all her fault), Daryl Hannah's punk appearance, Rutger Hauer, the Vangelis soundtrack, etc. It came out in 1982. So I'm watching it this afternoon and realize that the person who plays J.F.Sebastian is the actor who played Larry, of Larry, Darryl and Darryl fame from Newhart and I get really distracted by that fact cause Bladerunner is in this dystopia and Newhart is in comfy Vermont. Plus, sci-fi versus comedy. I can't see Dean Butler without thinking of Almanzoo, Corin Nemec without thinking of Parker Lewis Can't Lose, Valerie Harper without thinking of Rhoda, etc. And then there's Jerry Orbach of Law and Order who pops up in various Broadway shows and Dirty Dancing.

Yes, it's called typecasting. Supposedly there's a Bartleby the Scrivener with Greg and Peter from the Brady Bunch in minor roles. How to lose verisimilitude in one easy step. I can't focus on the film; I'm too distracted by the casting. I'm okay when they use the former role in a clever way. No examples spring to mind though.
