Eep!! Weddings!
Okay, I've a wedding that I'm planning on going to in November because I haven't been to one in a while and apparently I've forgotten what they're like. And it's one of my students who's invited me and I generally believe that if you have fond memories of said person, that you should attempt to go, whenever possible. Translation, they have enough people they "have" to invite, the cousins by the dozens, the second aunts from the left or the uncles, that it's probably nice to have a low-key person there. Someone you genuinely like. During my grading, I've been trying to figure out first how to respond to the invitation in the correct manner. (The internet was mostly helpful). I thought the M meant the meal, not the Mr. Ms, or whatever. While looking for what to wear to said wedding, I came across this gem of a line,
Don't wear opera-length gloves (to top of arm) with anything but sleeveless or strapless gowns.
First of all, I don't think I have anything that qualifies as a sleeveless gowns. Second of all, I don't _even_ have opera-length gloves. Third of all, it's going to be in Arizona and outside in a garden. I _don't_ think opera gloves and sleeveless gowns are what they're looking for. Though it would be good comic relief.
I think the last wedding I went to was Rachel's and I wore a sweater and an nice-ish flowy skirt. I still have the skirt. We're talking like 1997 or something like that. Which is not to say that there haven't been weddings, but they've been out of town or the people involved in eloped or had a very small wedding. (And hey, I think some of that makes a lot of sense.)
Ooh, now I have a reason to buy the beautiful swirly glasses that I always found during Christmas shopping. Of course, the shop is in upstate New York, but the beautiful swirly glasses will be elsewhere. I'll probably end up at Cost Plus as per usual.

Weddings- yick. Dreadful.
I'd really like to know who does wear opera-length gloves anymore. I go to the opera on a fairly regular basis, and I don't even see them there!
