Or my latest "I Feel Old" moment. I've been holed up in my apt and watching Ellen the tv series, her first sitcom as opposed to her talk show, which I also like. I used to watch it semi-regularly on primetime and I caught some of the re-runs on Lifetime. I had graduated from college at the time it and Friends came on and was in grad. school for most of it. So I'm looking at imdb. which is filled with the usual love it/hate it reviews and I discover that it's the tenth anniversary of the famous puppy episode where she comes out as a lesbian. I remember watching it and discussing it with many of my friends. And it's ten years since. Okay, that it's been 20 years since I've seen some shows and movies is also depressing, though I can't think of any examples right now. Like I think Ferris and Some Kind of Wonderful were about 1986-1987.
I bought the third season as I figured I would probably watch it enough and it holds up pretty well. Some funny stuff and I like Jeremy Piven as Spence and Peter and Barrett, the gay couple, have some fun moments. And the usual thing for me still happens. The first role in which I really noticed them is who they'll be no matter if they do other things. The actor who played Barrett went on to play the Mayor's aide in Buffy and I was upset when Faith kills him. Poor Barrett.
Oh, and I'm now older than Ellen and co. were playing on the show. Not by too much, though. And I'm now older than the older man on Mystic Pizza. Oh well. There were a few other ones there. JDS was reminding me of what famous movie stars were doing at our age. Like, thanks muchly.
I know, I'm younger than some of you read the blog, so shutting up now. But I'm also older too.
