Last Post, then I should go.
I was at the place I had breakfast and I believe that yet another man has walked by wearing the cologne Fahrenheit. At least this one seems to be over the age of 20 which means that he probably began wearing the cologne after he went to the prom.
The backstory is this: one of my bestest friends, male, used to slather it on, so I know the scent very well as I liked it. (Thanks jds). This was 1993 or later as I had graduated from college and was watching bad tv. in my father's house and the friends that had gotten together hadn't yet been torn asunder in 1994. The year the Pa. friends split the roof of the Perkins where we used to go caved in due to an excessive snowstorm as there were two blizzards in a row. In 1993, jds cut off my long hair during the blizzard as I realized that I had done "the long hair thing" and it looked better short and I didn't know how to do any of the cool things you do with long hair anyway, so why bother? So, in short, I was in my mid-twenties, watching the various gen-x movies that came out, Reality Bites, Singles, and watching 90210.
I even got a perfume that was kind of like Fahrenheit, the chick version of it. So recently, have been noticing it. I was at school and asked this student in the hall if he was wearing it, he said yes and looked surprised that I was talking to him and that this was the subject of my concern. When I was picking up my matte for the picture for my bedroom, I noticed that the sales clerk that was helping me at Michael's also wore it. I also asked him and he told me that he starting wearing it when he was fifteen which is probably about right in retrospect, but made me feel a tad aged. You were going to prom, graduating and having slow-dances to various 90s songs while I was clearly no longer in college, and was definitely not in high school. Oh well.
There's just enough time distance between me and my students that when I was seeing Chasing Amy, they thought it a bit risque. They are by and large the people who liked Dazed and Confused more than I did because the 70s was exotic to them and too painful for me.
Though I can sing the theme from Duck Tales.
