Finished _Midwives_ by Chris Bohjalian. Was good. Was intense. It makes me ask a lot of questions how it ends and I want to know more about the people after it ends. It's very politically based and raises issues regarding obviously doctors, midwives, which is better. The narrator is good. It's an interesting conception for an idea and it has interesting characters. It's got some stuff that's really hard to read like home births and Caesarian sections with a kitchen knife. But well done. I wanted to close my eyes at times. Don't read immediately after intense book.

Think I read "Midwives" last year.
Is it narrated by a woman whose mother was a midwife? And there was a death and a trial?
If so, I also found it compelling. It raised some interesting questions.
Am currently reading a book on the Druids---must keep up on my tribe.
